Cyril Camus, fifth generation at the helm of Maison Camus, founded in 1863, embodies a contemporary vision of cognac while continuing a family heritage closely tied to gastronomy. After studying in the United States, he joined the House in 1994 and gained his first field experience in Beijing before taking over its leadership in 2004. Under his guidance, Camus has developed a distinctive style focused on aromatic intensity and innovation, with emblematic creations such as XO Borderies and the single-cru cognacs. For him, however, cognac is above all about the art of living and the pleasure of the table. The family’s connection with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dates back to Michel Camus, Cyril’s grandfather, and now spans four generations. “When I joined the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, I was immediately touched by the sense of fraternity – an incredible bond that unites all its members. These are values we share, which is why the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and Maison Camus feel almost inseparable to me.” In this spirit, Cyril Camus continues to nurture the dialogue between cognac and haute gastronomy, while the recent induction of his son Ryan opens a new chapter in this family story.
