Born in Reims in 1953 into a long-established Champagne winegrowing family rooted in the Montagne de Reims since 1704, Bruno Paillard founded his own Champagne House in 1981 with a clear vision: uncompromising top quality over volume.
After six years in family grape brokerage (1975–1980), he developed deep expertise in Champagne crus before creating Champagne Bruno Paillard.
A true pioneer, he was the first to systematically print disgorgement dates on bottles (1983) and to extend post-disgorgement ageing. He introduced one of Champagne’s first Perpetual Reserves (1985) and established an Extra Brut house style with minimal dosage.
Over time, he built a 25-hectare estate vineyard (mostly Grand and Premier Crus), now covering 50% of the House’s grape supply.
Deeply committed to Champagne’s appellation, he served 40 years on its defense committee and was awarded the Légion d’Honneur in 2006. Since 2009, management has gradually been transferred to his daughter, Alice Paillard.
• The House
Founded in 1981 in Reims, the House remains one of the very few fully private and independent Champagne Houses.
Annual production ranges from 300,000 to 400,000 bottles, exclusively from first pressing juice.
80% is exported to over 30 countries.
Distribution is strictly selective: specialist wine merchants and fine dining — never supermarkets.
The range focuses exclusively on high-end cuvées, aged 3–5 years longer than required by Champagne regulations. Every bottle bears its disgorgement date.
The House is renowned for precision, purity and elegance — a faithful expression of Bruno Paillard’s vision of excellence.
